A beautiful nativity scene, on display in the foyer of Meadowburn Care Home in Pollok, is bringing Christmas cheer to our HSCP’s care home residents.

A wooden stable and manger built by Meadowburn’s Operations Manager Paul Costello houses nativity figures including Joseph, Mary, baby Jesus in a manger, a sheep, donkey and cow overlooked by an angel, shepherd and three wise men.

Prisoner Training Programme Helping to Tackle Drug Issues in Scotland

A training programme helping prisoners to tackle drug issues has won several awards.

The programme picked up Volunteer of the Year at our Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) Staff Awards for Excellence in October 2022. It also received two awards at the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) Public Health Directorate Excellence Awards 2022, for Volunteer of the Year and Innovation of the Year.

Helping Adults with Learning Disabilities with Relationships and Sexual Health

Staff from 17 organisations across Greater Glasgow and Clyde came together in November 2022 at an engagement event held by Sandyford Sexual Health Services. Sandyford is hosted by Glasgow City HSCP for NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.

The aim was to bring a broad range of stakeholders together to plan and prioritise a programme of work to support adults with learning disabilities around their relationships and sexual health. This was identified from a Staff Training Needs Assessment in 2021.

Learning about the Positives and Challenges of Implementing Housing First in Glasgow

A recent learning day is helping Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) and our partners discuss the positives and challenges of Housing First in Glasgow. 

Housing First is a rapid rehousing approach to tackling homelessness amongst people with complex needs, such as mental health or addiction issues. Secure tenancies and intensive support are provided to assist some of the city's most vulnerable people to rebuild their lives, sustain their tenancies and improve their physical and mental health.

Perinatal and Infant Mental Health Network Offers Mental Health Support for New and Expectant Parents

Statistics show that one in five women are affected by mental health problems during pregnancy and the first year after birth. This includes mental illness existing before pregnancy, as well as illnesses that develop for the first time, or are greatly exacerbated in the perinatal period. These illnesses can be mild, moderate or severe, requiring different kinds of care or treatment, from third sector organisations to more specialist services like the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) Perinatal Service.

We’re keeping Glasgow’s Promise.

In October 2016, the First Minister made a commitment that Scotland would "come together and love its most vulnerable children to give them the childhood they deserve". She announced an Independent Care Review that would gather the views of those involved to find out what needs to change. The review would listen to those with experience of living and working in and around the 'care system'.

Update on the New Parkhead Hub

An improved health and social care facility for people in the North East of Glasgow has moved a step closer. Building work on the new Parkhead Hub started on site in March 2022 and it’s due to open in 2024.

The Hub is being built on the site of the former Parkhead Hospital and current Sandyford, Anvil Centre and Parkhead Health Centre at Salamanca Street. 

Family Group Decision Making Teams Help Keep Families Together
