Good oral health in childhood means healthy teeth and gums throughout life. Childsmile is working to ensure all children, regardless of income or background, have the best possible start.

Childsmile is a national programme designed to improve the oral health of children in Scotland and reduce inequalities both in dental health and access to dental services. 

Every 3 and 4 year-old attending nursery in Scotland (extended into some P1 and P2 classes in schools), is eligible to be offered:

Hundreds of Ukrainian Refugees in Glasgow Supported by NHS and Council Teams

Teams from both NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and Glasgow City Council are helping hundreds of newly arrived Ukrainians who have fled the war in their homeland. While some refugees have been hosted in private homes, around 300 are being housed in hotel accommodation, and are being provided support by Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) teams to help them settle into the city.

It’s World Breastfeeding Week from 1 to 7 August this year, and Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) staff are delighted that with their help Glasgow Clyde College has become Scotland’s first Further Education institution to obtain accreditation from Breastfeeding Friendly Scotland. 

Supported by the Scottish Government, the scheme aims to provide mums with positive experiences of breastfeeding when in public.

Knightswood Community Plant Trees for COP26

Playing a small part for COP26, as part of a joint multi-generational project, Knightswood Connects facilitated the planting of trees in Knightswood in partnership with Friends of Knightswood Park. Seniors living within the community, pupils from Knightswood Secondary and Blairdardie Primary Schools, various local organisations and groups all came together in October to plant a variety of saplings such as Silver Birch, Hazel, Rowan and more.
