Over the festive period all public social work offices will remain open between 08:45am to 4.45pm (Monday to Thursday) and 08.45am to 3.55pm (Friday) but will be closed on the following public holidays: 

Friday 25 December 2020 Monday 28 December 2020  Thursday 31 December 2020 closed from 12 noon onwards Friday 1 January 2021 Monday 4 January 2021.

Glasgow City HSCP was recognised at the Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) awards for public sector excellence last week.

The Care Team were finalists in the category ‘Best Efficiency and Transformation Initiative’, for the mass home care recruitment campaign which ran in April last year. They worked alongside the Council’s Marketing, Social Media and PR team to run a multi-platform recruitment campaign across two weeks. They then overhauled the recruitment process to make it more timely and less admin intensive by incorporating a pre-screening tool.

Adriana offers Hope to People Struggling with Suicidal Thoughts

Anyone watching swing dancer, Adriana Klick, bounce through the Lindy Hop would be shocked to learn she has had suicidal thoughts.

The bubbly, energetic 42-year-old has struggled with her emotional wellbeing since her teens and been on anti-depressants for two decades.

Staying positive, especially as someone living alone during the pandemic, still takes daily work, but she is happy to share her story to help tackle the stigma and shame which she feels can deter people from seeking help for mental ill-health.

Glasgow has five COVID-19 mass vaccination centres which are all wheelchair accessible.

Vaccination centres are operated by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and it is the NHS who will invite you to an appointment at a vaccination centre (not the council).

New £67million Health and Social Care Hub for North East Glasgow backed by Scottish Government

The Scottish Government has today approved the Outline Business Case for the new North East Hub Health and Care Centre which will be built on the site of the former Parkhead Hospital.

Glasgow Central Parenting Team has joined forces with the Partnership's North West Health Improvement Team's Youth Health Service (YHS) to offer a triage of support to young people and their parents/carers in the North West of Glasgow.

This joint work offers parents/carers the opportunity to attend a Teen Triple P parenting group where a crèche is provided and teenagers can access support from the YHS.

North East Health Improvement Staff are making sure local children are ready for sunny spring weather by providing sun awareness training for nursery staff in the north east of Glasgow. 

Skin cancer is on the rise, people should be sun aware from April to October.  Statistics from Cancer Research UK show that melanoma skin cancer is the 5th most common cancer in the UK, accounting for 4% of all new cancer cases in 2015.
