Eastgate: creating a strong North East Hub for Care at Home services
The opening of Eastgate Base marks an important step forward for Glasgow City Health and Social care Partnership’s (HSCP) Care at Home services in the north east of the city.
Bringing together the former Templeton and Baillieston Care at Home bases into one shared office, Eastgate has been established as a North East Hub, strengthening collaboration and enhancing the way services are delivered.
The move has supported the integration of teams, with Care Coordinators, Assistant Area Operations Managers, Social Care Workers, Occupational Therapists and Area Operations Managers now working side by side from a single base. This co-location has already helped to improve communication, shared decision making and joined up working across the service.
Eastgate is based within an established Glasgow City building that hosts a wide range of other services, making it a natural and appropriate environment for Care at Home teams. Being part of a multi-service setting supports partnership working and reinforces a shared commitment to person-centred care.
The building itself provides a modern, open plan workspace, enhanced by high-level windows running around the base, allowing natural light to flood the area. Flexible hot desk spaces are available for social care workers, occupational therapists, operational staff and the Registered Services Manager, supporting agile working and everyday collaboration.
There are also clear benefits for staff wellbeing. Eastgate includes a dedicated breakout area where colleagues can take their breaks, as well as access to an on-site café, offering a welcoming space to relax and connect with others during the working day. In addition, secure parking for HSCP fleet vehicles supports safe and efficient travel while working in the community.
Overall, Eastgate offers a positive, inclusive and collaborative working environment. By bringing teams together in a shared, well-designed space, the new base supports a strong team approach to delivering high-quality, person-centred care for individuals and communities across the north east of Glasgow.
Registered Sector Manager Yvonne Kelly said: “The move to Eastgate has been a positive one. All staff are enjoying the pleasant working environment and the support they are able to offer each other whilst being together in one place is making a significant difference. As the Registered Sector Manager, I can base myself here most of the week, and with our Assessment Team colleagues also working from Eastgate we are able to work together efficiently to provide excellent customer service to all service users.”
