Knightswood Connects Community Project held a small summer gathering for residents over the age of 50. The afternoon event took place in an outside space at Knightswood Community Centre on 29 July.
 
The weather was surprisingly dry and the marquees ensured that no one got sunburned. The forty seniors that attended enjoyed an afternoon of cold drinks, food and cool jazz from the very talented Mic Clark and Olivia Ennemosser from the group Acoustic Butterfly. The music was the perfect tonic and created a wonderful relaxed atmosphere for people to enjoy.

The Knightswood Connects Over 50s Project is funded by Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) and managed by Wheatley Care. 

Ann Harvey, Community Engagement Coordinator, Wheatley Care said: “A huge thanks to Knightswood Community Centre for providing an outdoor space, tables, chairs and their staff for assisting with the set-up of the event.”
Ann continued: “Everyone that attended the summer gathering were happy to be out and about socialising again in a safe environment. After the rigours of the COVID-19 lockdown, it was great to hear and see people enjoying themselves again.”

May Simpson, our HSCP’s Community Engagement and Development Officer for North West Locality said: “It was lovely seeing friends and community acquaintances relaxing, re-connecting and catching up with each other’s news after such a long time of socially isolating.”
