Parkhead Hub Update – August 2025

Published: | Public Engagement

It’s been a busy summer at Parkhead Hub. You can watch a video of our community day, held in May. We were also delighted to be named Project of the Year – New Build UK at the 2025 Design in Mental Health Awards. This award recognised the Hub’s innovative design and outstanding contribution to community mental health care.

The awards celebrate projects that prioritise mental wellbeing through thoughtful architecture. They highlight design elements that enhance therapeutic environments, support recovery and foster a sense of belonging.

Situated in the heart of the community, Parkhead Hub is a multifunctional space offering health and social care services, a library and community facilities. The design reflects a deep understanding of user needs, featuring bright, open areas, natural light and calming aesthetics that promote healing and connection.

Paul Ryan, Chair of Glasgow City IJB recently visited the new Hub and said: “I was most impressed by the new Parkhead Hub building. The large, light filled foyer welcomes you into the building to access a wide range of health and social care services. Artworks developed with the local community are very interesting, along with the courtyard spaces that add to the whole visitor experience. The community rooms, library and café are a great resource for local groups. The Hub is a fantastic addition to the east end of Glasgow.”

Staff are also enjoying working in the new Hub and raised an incredible £1,960 for Marie Curie at a fundraising event in July.

A new programme of community events begins in August, including on 29 August for Overdose Awareness Day and in September for National Recovery and Suicide Prevention month.

We're also hosting art sessions with our HSCP’s Central Continuing Care and Aftercare Services (Arts in the City). This is a series of free workshops called ‘Stories from Glasgow’, designed to introduce people to new creative activities. More information is available at the following links:

Future meetings are on Thursday 20 Nov 2025, 10am to noon, and Thursday 19 Feb 2026, 10am to noon, with an open invitation for all to attend.
