Parkhead Hub update – October 2025
Parkhead Hub continues to showcase a wide range of Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) services, promote local groups and third sector organisations alongside profiling national campaigns.
Highlights from September and October included pop up information stalls to mark:
- Recovery Month with activities from our HSCP’s Alcohol and Drugs Recovery Services (ADRS) team and third sector group, We Are With You.
- Suicide Prevention Week with a selection of stallholders offering information, including our North East Health Improvement Team.
- Falls Awareness Week led by our North East physiotherapy team supported by colleagues from Glasgow Life’s Live Active and Vitality.
- National Alzheimer's Day showcased information on creating a Playlist for Life, the Herbert Protocol, and the Home Technologies service demonstrating how equipment can support people.
- During Challenge Poverty Week we hosted representatives from the Halliday Foundation, Home Fire Safety, West of Scotland Housing, Parkhead Citizen’s Advice Bureau (CAB), Home Energy Scotland and our HSCP Health Improvement Team. These agencies shared information, engaged with over 80 community members, and provided resources and giveaways to address the impact of poverty for individuals and their family members.
- World Mental Health Day, took place on 10 October 2025 and staff from Lifelink started the day with a Wellbeing Session on Gratitude and Self Compassion. This was followed at lunchtime by a rolling programme of ten-minute mediation and relaxation sessions delivered by our HSCP’s Hub based Primary Care Adult Mental Health Team. Our Health Improvement Team also coordinated information stalls from YoMO, Cranhill Integration Network and Scottish Asian Counselling Services.
Jackie Shearer, Engagement and Equalities Coordinator at Parkhead Hub said: “Random Acts of Kindness was the order of the day at Parkhead Hub's in house cafe, Social Blend. Staff member, Nargis Hanif (from our ADRS service) baked cakes, which were served on vintage tea stands to members of the public and a few lucky staff members. All in all, it was a positive day to reflect and share resources across the community.”
A participant attending the Lifelink session said: “Thank you, I really enjoyed the session. It’s set me up for the day on a very positive note.”
Jackie continued: “It’s been a busy couple of months, and it’s great to see the Hub filled with stalls and people getting information that can make a difference to their health and wellbeing. If anyone is interested in helping to build our community networks, then you can get involved through our HSCP’s North East Locality Engagement Forum. The group meets at the Hub, and future meetings are on Thursday 20 Nov 2025, 10am to noon, and Thursday 19 Feb 2026, 10am to noon, with an open invitation for all to attend.”
