Improving Care - The Sandyford menopause email advice service
An innovative email service for health staff is helping women get treatment more quickly for menopausal symptoms.
The consultant Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) staff working at Sandyford set up a Menopause email advice service for GPs, pharmacists and practice nurses (Primary Care Services) in 2019.
Sandyford is the specialist sexual health service for the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) area, which is hosted by Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP).
Supporting children and families with autism
Some of Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) health visitors have been taking part in intensive autism training.
Health visitors are specialist community public health nurses (SCPHN), registered midwives or nurses. They specialise in working with families with a child aged 0 to five to identify health needs as early as possible and improve health and wellbeing by promoting health, preventing ill health and reducing inequalities.
Balmore Ward gets excellent report from MWC Scotland
Glasgow City HSCP’s Balmore Ward at Levendale Hospital is a specialist dementia care unit, caring for older people with various types of dementia. The ward is subdivided into two self-contained single sex units, with eight beds in one ward and 10 beds in the other.
Balmore Ward was visited by the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland (MWCS) in November 2023. A report has now been issued commending staff on their work to meet recommendations from a previous visit in November 2022.
