For many years there have been mixed messages around drinking alcohol in pregnancy, but a new hard-hitting campaign by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde aims to clear up the confusion once and for all. “No alcohol, no alcohol harm” is the theme of an information campaign, aimed at pregnant women and those thinking about having a baby, to highlight the risk of their child being born with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).

Power of Attorney Campaign shortlisted for Award

Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board has been shortlisted for a Scottish Creative Award for its ‘Even Santa Needs a Power of Attorney’ TV advert - an upbeat Christmas advert designed to raise awareness about power of attorney (PoA).

PoA allows people to safeguard their future, should they lose the capacity to make decisions for themselves. 

The board has been running campaigns raising awareness on the importance of having a PoA for the last four years.

Black History Month October 2017

October 2017 is Black History Month. This is when we focus on the contributions and experiences of black and minority ethnic people throughout centuries of our nation’s history.  It is important that we recognise the role of black and minority ethnic people in shaping Scotland’s history. The Coalition for Racial Equality and Rights (CRER) have organised a programme of events to explore the links between Scotland’s Black History and present day racism.  Events are varied and include :

Partnership Community Respiratory Team selected as a finalist in Scottish Health Awards

The Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s Community Respiratory Team has been selected as a finalist at the 2017 Scottish Health Awards in association with the Scottish Government and Daily Record. The judging panel noted on the quality and strength of nominations this year.  The awards ceremony will be held at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange on Thursday 2nd November with the event hosted by Fred McCauley. 

Our Mental Health Improvement Team wins fourth UK Public Health Award

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s (NHSGGC) Mental Health Improvement Team has won a fourth UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) Innovation in Public Health Award. The team, which is hosted by Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) has won four awards in the five years that the awards have been in existence (two awards in 2018 as well as an award in 2022 and 2023).

The awards offer practitioners and their colleagues and employers throughout the UK the opportunity to gain recognition for their work in improving public health and reducing inequalities.
