The new Parkhead Hub is due to be handed over by the contractors BAM in November, and a period of equipping and commissioning is being undertaken before opening to the public in early 2025.

Parkhead Hub Update – June 2024

Our Residential Care Homes Admin Teams dress up for Halloween!
To celebrate Halloween, our admin staff across our residential care homes dressed up in costumes to brighten the day for all, showcasing the sense of community our HSCP strives to create within our homes.
To get into the spooky season, celebrations and parties took place in our care homes and day care centres across the city to mark Halloween. The admin staff decided to coordinate incredible costumes that carried the festivities out into the reception areas, which was great for residents and visitors alike. The teams dressed up as The Pink Ladies, The Chipmunks and more.
New Partnership with Glasgow Carers Launched Ahead of Carers Rights Day
On the lead up to Carers Rights Day on 21 November, our Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership hosted an event to mark a new partnership with Glasgow Carers; a carer’s led group, founded by Marie McGinn in April 2024, to amplify the voices of carers.
The event was held at Glasgow City Chambers and brought together carers, HSCP staff, carers organisations and community representatives.
Power of Attorney (PoA) Day 2024
Power of Attorney (PoA) Day 2024 is Thursday 21 November and we’re encouraging everyone to start the conversation about PoA.
Having a PoA in place means you can nominate someone you trust to make the important decisions about your future if ill health meant you couldn’t do it for yourself. Not many people know that even if you have a next of kin, you still need a PoA to make sure your wishes are followed if you become incapacitated – it doesn’t automatically fall to your next of kin.
Small steps can make a big impact on medicines waste and save money
Medicines are 25% of the NHS carbon footprint and currently cannot be recycled for reuse. We destroy over a tonne of returned medicines through pharmacies every working day. We also know people inappropriately throw them away in general waste and down sinks and toilets, which is causing harm to wildlife and the environment.
Helping young people towards positive destinations
Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) now has a young person’s employability service within key HSCP services. Glasgow City Council (GCC) is the lead partner for this, and Council staff work closely with our HSCP’s Health Improvement staff.
As part of the Scottish Government’s No One Left Behind Employability Strategy, our employability coaches can support young people who are aged 16 to 25 years, live in the GCC boundary or are currently attending a GCC school and have the right to live and work in the UK.
Parkhead Hub Update – February 2024
Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) new Parkhead Hub Health and Care Centre construction is progressing well. The building is now wind and watertight and the Main Contractor BAM is making good progress with the building services and internal fit-out. Many of the standard rooms are now substantially complete with the contractor now focusing their efforts on the circulation, atria and courtyard spaces.
Aye Mind Website – a year from our relaunch
The Aye Mind website is designed to support those working with young people, to build their understanding of the online environment and how it impacts children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing. This is ultimately to help staff support children and young people, to maximise the benefits of the online environment on their mental health and wellbeing, while minimising the risks.
HSCP staff recognised at Scottish Health Awards 2024
Huge congratulations to all Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) staff who were recognised at the Scottish Health Awards 2024 held in Edinburgh on 7 November.
These Awards recognise the contribution of frontline health and social care workers but also celebrate those who work so hard behind the scenes in support roles, to ensure we have the kind of health and care services that are vital in achieving the highest quality of care.
