Celebrating Carers Week - 8 to 14 June 2020

Published: | Carers

We are celebrating Carers Week from the 8 to 14 June 2020.  This week is dedicated to people across the country who provide support to friends, family and neighbours who couldn’t manage otherwise.

The theme of this year’s Carers Week is “Making Carers Visible”.  This is an opportunity to engage with both staff and the general public to ensure that people know about the help and support that is available.

Fred Beckett, Carers Lead for Glasgow City HSCP recognises the invaluable contribution of unpaid carers in Glasgow all year round.

Fred said: “The Covid-19 outbreak has created unprecedented challenges for both unpaid carers and services.  We all have a part to play in making Glasgow’s unpaid carers visible. It’s also important to recognise that many employees are also unpaid carers who may need support in their caring role.”

Help and support for carers

The Scottish Government has launched a National Wellbeing Hub providing information about the help and support that is available to health and social care staff and unpaid carers - nationally, locally and within their own organisations.
