Councillor Mhairi Hunter, Vice Chair of the Glasgow City Integration Joint Board, Visits Services
Councillor Mhairi Hunter, Vice Chair of the Glasgow City Integration Joint Board (IJB), has been finding time in her busy diary to meet staff across the Partnership and observe first-hand the transforming impact that services are having on individuals and communities.
The schedule Councillor Hunter followed has included:
- spending time with Criminal Justice staff based in Pollok
- enjoying the company of residents and staff in Hawthorn House, one of the Partnership’s brand new Residential and Day Care facilities
- talking to the Health Visiting Team based in Shettleston Health Centre
- accompanying the Simon Community RSVP Street Team as they help people sleeping rough in Glasgow
- finding out from the Sandyford Management Team about the services they have responsibility for delivering
Reflecting on the visits, Councillor Hunter noted “My conversations with everyone involved in the Partnership have driven home to me the importance of our work.”
“The significance of the work we carry out is clear to everyone. Patients, service users, staff and external service providers are united in their determination that we succeed in everything we do for the people of Glasgow.”
“As Vice Chair of the Glasgow City IJB l am absolutely clear that we provide the management direction and support that is needed to continue achieving this success.”
“Glaswegians expect the best health and social care services possible in order that they can flourish. Our focus is to meet these expectations.”
Councillor Hunter concluded her current programme of visits when she travelled to a number of Children and Families services to hear and see the work that Partnership staff are involved in to help our most vulnerable young people.
