Jenn Wyld, Patient Activity Coordinator (PAC) Nurse at Leverndale Hospital (currently seconded to position of Mental Health Research Liaison Nurse), was a very worthy runner-up for the ‘Jane Davies Award for Person-Centred Practice Award’ 2023. 

The award was presented to Jenn at the ‘What Matters To You’ National Networking Event, in Edinburgh on Wednesday 17 January. This is a new award in memory of Jane Davies, which has been created to provide an opportunity to celebrate and share examples of high quality person-centred care and support in our health and social care system.

On receiving the award Jenn said: “I’m honoured to receive this special award for something I’m so passionate about. I couldn’t do it without the support of the wonderful staff and patients at Leverndale Hospital. Also, thank you to Jen, Ann and the PCHC Team for nominating me and to Jane’s family for this award.”

Carol Donoghue, Inpatient Operational Nurse Manager, Leverndale Hospital added: “Huge congratulations to Jenn, from the whole team here at Leverndale Hospital. This is fantastic recognition for your passion and commitment to delivering best practice, person-centred care. Jenn has had the opportunity to engage patients in meaningful therapeutic activity that benefits individual patient outcomes, optimise their experience of care and enhance personal recovery. Jenn prioritises the need to promote kind, caring engagement and advocate the fact that the simple gesture of asking ‘what matters to you?’ is about gaining deeper understanding what matters to individuals and those closest to them. This is very much embedded within wards and teams and this is largely thanks to Jenn – Well done.”

Jen Rodgers, Deputy Nurse Director NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, congratulated Jenn and added: “Jenn’s leadership has been instrumental to embedding ‘what matters to you’ conversations into everyday practice at Leverndale Hospital. Jenn creates and coordinates bespoke activities and tailors them to the needs of individuals and groups. Her work has an unwavering focus on supporting emotional, intellectual, spiritual and physical wellbeing for patients.”

Lorraine Cribbin, Chief Nurse Adult Services, Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) said: “This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to Jenn’s dedication and passion for delivering person-centred care to our patients. Well done and keep up the good work.”
