Parkhead Hub Update – June 2024
A new exhibition at the Parkhead Forge shopping centre showcases Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) new Parkhead Hub Health and Care Centre and its creative engagement activity with local people.
Construction of the Hub is on track to be completed at the end of August. Following handover from the contractors, the building will be furnished, and IT installed. Staff will begin to transfer from January 2025 with patients and service users welcomed towards the end the month.
The new Hub will integrate health, social care and community facilities, including a cafe and Parkhead Library. The building will accommodate approximately 800 staff, with up to 2,000 people accessing the building each day, which will support local businesses and regeneration initiatives.
Jackie Shearer, Arts Strategy Coordinator, Parkhead Hub said: “Throughout the build local people have been involved in our Arts Strategy programme and we now have an exhibition at Parkhead Forge, running over the summer.
“The exhibition will show the facilities on offer at the Hub and showcase artworks made with the community through our diverse creative engagement programme. It’ll also give a taste of the artworks to be installed at the Hub by commissioned design agency Bespoke Atelier who are based in Bridgeton, Glasgow
“We’re currently planning creative workshops tying in with the Forge's summer activity programme and would like to thank the Forge for all their support and enthusiasm for the Hub.”
Jacquelyn Stewart, Centre Manager - The Forge Shopping Centre said: “We’re delighted to welcome The Hub exhibition to The Forge Shopping Centre. The Hub will be our newest neighbour when it opens in November, and we’re excited to be part of such a positive change for the local area, and we are looking forward to working with The Hub team in the coming years.”
