Parkhead Hub Update - April 2025
Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) new Parkhead Hub opened in January 2025. The Hub integrates health and social care services and community facilities including a café, and the relocated Parkhead Library.
Members of the local community and staff are enjoying the fantastic new facilities provided by the Hub, which replaces several older buildings in the area.
The Social Blend café at the Hub opened in March and is already being well used by visitors and staff. It is run by Include Me 2 Club, a social enterprise and charity that offers employment and training opportunities to young people and adults with additional support needs.
Paul McIlvenny, Chairperson and Co-Founder, of Include Me 2 Club said: “We’re open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm, serving up Thomson’s Coffee, sweet treats, soups, sandwiches, salads and more. The team is settling in really well and it’s been brilliant to see how busy and welcoming the space has become already. We’re really excited about how things are going so far and can’t wait to keep building connections with the local community.”
In addition to the café, Parkhead Hub has bookable community rooms for local groups, charities and third sector organisations. Information on eligibility criteria and booking a room is available from reception or on the Hub’s webpage.
Jackie Shearer, Engagement and Equalities Coordinator, Parkhead Hub said: “A Hub wide event is planned for Thursday 22 May, which is a school’s in-service day so we’re hoping that children, young people and families will be able to attend, in addition to practitioners and the wider community. The focus for this first Community Network Event is on the wide range of services across the community supporting the mental health and wellbeing of children, young people and their families. As well as information stalls, there will be a range of free activities from massage and tai chi to arts, crafts and play.."
Full details will be available on the Hub webpage.
