Celebrating our volunteers June 2025

Published: | Volunteering

National Volunteers’ Week took place from 2 to 8 June this year and is a celebration across the UK of all the contributions volunteers make to their community. As well as a crucial opportunity to thank volunteers and recognise the value of their time, passion and skills, the week also acts as a chance to inspire others to give volunteering a go.

To mark National Volunteers Week, some of our Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) volunteers took part in a civic reception hosted by the Deputy Lord Provost of Glasgow, Councillor Christy Mearns at Glasgow City Chambers. Eight young people who volunteer with the Glasgow City Youth Health Service (YHS) attended, along with volunteers from our mental health services at Leverndale Hospital.

Rosalind Ramage, Health Improvement Senior presented thank you certificates to our HSCP volunteers at the event. She said: “It was a wonderful celebration to thank our volunteers in the beautiful surroundings of the City Chambers.”

Jane Lawson from our HSCP’s Glasgow City YHS said: “The young people are all senior school pupils and volunteer for two hours in the evening. They welcome young people and their parents/carers to the service and assist them to access resources. They were delighted to attend the reception at the City Chambers.”

One of the young volunteers said: “My experience volunteering for YHS has been amazing not only to build on my skills and learn new ones but also to feel I’m supporting and helping young people in my own community.”

Fiona Moss, our HSCP’s Head of Health Improvement and Equalities said: “Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership has a range of volunteers working across its services from Youth Heath, Health Improvement, Alcohol and Drugs, Residential Care and Mental Health. We would like to thank them for all their invaluable and diverse dedicated efforts in supporting the services we provide.”

During the week a range of activities were also held to celebrate volunteers of the Art in the Gart creative volunteer programme at Gartnavel Royal Hospital.
