Phlebotomy Service – making it easier for people to get the tests they need
Phlebotomy means taking a small sample of blood using a needle. It helps doctors check your health and diagnose medical conditions. This work is carried out by trained staff called phlebotomists.
Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP)’s Phlebotomy Service provides both clinic appointments and home visits. As well as taking blood samples, staff can check blood pressure, pulse and collect urine samples. It’s a very busy service, taking around 17,500 blood samples every month. All referrals come from GP practices.
Glasgow City Care at Home Service praised by Care Inspectorate
Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP)’s Care at Home Service received very positive results following a Care Inspectorate inspection carried out between 19 January and 4 February 2026.
This was one of the most detailed inspections the service has had. Inspectors spent a lot of time visiting services, speaking with people and reviewing how the service works across all areas. The results clearly show the hard work, professionalism and teamwork of everyone involved.
Parkhead Hub marks International Women’s Day
Our Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) Health Improvement staff in the North East Locality hosted a community event celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) in the Parkhead Hub on 9 March 2026.
The event highlighted some of the services, support and opportunities available to women locally, while also celebrating the achievements and experiences of women across Glasgow.
Representatives from Glasgow Life, GEMAP Financially Included and the GAMH North East Carers also hosted stalls and engaged with attendees.
