Happy Halloween at Leverndale Hospital
Since the onset of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in March, the Recreational Therapy Department has been closed and Recreational Therapy staff have been offering an outreach service within Leverndale Hospital.
The department plans to have a monthly ‘theme’ in an attempt to enhance the community spirit in these difficult times.

Glasgow City HSCP Pharmacist wins at National Conference
Leanne Black, Advanced Prescribing Support Pharmacist won the poster prize at the recent Scottish Practice Pharmacist & Prescribing Advisers Association Conference, held virtually on 28 October 2020.
Leanne works in Glasgow City HSCP’s North West Locality and is chair of the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Pharmacy Care Home Group. The poster summarised the work undertaken to conduct medication reviews via video link with care home residents using NHS Near Me (Attend Anywhere). Attend Anywhere is a web-based platform that allows video call access to NHS services.

Supporting Loss and Grief during a Pandemic – New Resources Available
The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) Mental Health Improvement Team has been working with colleagues and partner organisations to equip staff and volunteers with the confidence and resources to have conversations about loss, grief and bereavement. This has included staff training and resource development.
Carers Supported to Prepare Emergency Plans
Hundreds of unpaid carers in Glasgow have been helped to draw up emergency plans in case they get ill and are unable to look after their loved ones.
The city’s Health and Social Care Partnership is encouraging adult and young carers to plan ahead to ensure alternative arrangements can be put in place quickly if needed.

Glasgow's Winter Night Shelter now open with a change of name and a new location.
Now known as the Overnight Welcome Centre, the emergency accommodation for people at risk of rough sleeping in winter will be provided in a Glasgow hotel, rather than in Lodging Housing Mission in East Campbell Street.
This move is due to the current Coronavirus pandemic and will enable people to physically distance and if necessary, socially isolate. This would not have been possible at the usual location which offers dormitory style accommodation.
Accolade for Truly Inspirational Mental Health Officer
Congratulations to former Glasgow Health & Social Care employee, Colin Fraser, who has been named Mental Health Officer of the Year 2020.
Clare Haughey MSP, Minister for Mental Health, hailed Colin as "truly inspirational" as she presented him (virtually) with the Scottish Association of Social Work award.
Colin, who worked with Glasgow City HSCP helping people in mental distress in Glasgow for many years, was nominated by his social work colleagues ahead of his recent retirement.
