Scottish Creative Award for Fostering Campaign

The Partnership’s Families for Children Team was recently awarded the Best Online Campaign at the Scottish Creative Awards for their recent #opentofostering campaign. It was also Highly Commended in the Creative Strategy category - Integrated Strategy.

Cathy Coll, Service Manager at Families for Children, said: “We are delighted to have won this prestigious award. Having previously run several campaigns we were able  to use our experience to plan our new campaign. We focused on cost effective digital advertising which has the advantage of being easy to analyse.”

Out of Hours Emergency Homelessness Service based at Hamish Allan Centre

Following the initial pilot of relocating the Out of Hours Emergency Homelessness Service, we are now extending the relocation period. From Monday 11 December, the Out of Hours Emergency Homelessness Service, based at Hamish Allan Centre, will be relocated for 5 days a week until further notice.

On Monday to Friday, the Out of Hours Homelessness Service will now be delivered from Glasgow City Mission. On these nights if someone is homeless and needs a service, then:

The recent bad weather serves as a timely reminder that winter brings an increased risk of slips, trips and falls. Thankfully, the consequences of many falls on snow or ice are simply minor bumps, bruises and breaks.
Winter is always a busy time for our accident and emergency departments so if you fall and suffer a minor injury, the best place for you to get treated is the Minor Injuries Unit.The units are staffed by highly experienced emergency nurse practitioners who treat a range of minor injuries, including sprains and cuts and broken bones.

Mums Help Mums - Breastfeeding Mentors

Increasing the number of mums who breastfeed their babies is a Scottish Government priority
to improve child health and reduce inequalities.

In Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s North East Locality, the Health
Improvement Team has adopted a range of different approaches to help our local mums to
initiate and sustain breastfeeding. As well as maintaining our UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative
accreditation, we have established three breastfeeding support groups to help mums access
support from staff and other mums.

Balmore ward is one of 60 specialist dementia care units in Scotland. A small number of these
units – including Balmore Ward – are Specialist Dementia Unit Demonstrator sites, which work
with Focus on Dementia to develop and roll out improved practice.
