Power of Attorney (PoA) Day 2024
Power of Attorney (PoA) Day 2024 is Thursday 21 November and we’re encouraging everyone to start the conversation about PoA.
Having a PoA in place means you can nominate someone you trust to make the important decisions about your future if ill health meant you couldn’t do it for yourself. Not many people know that even if you have a next of kin, you still need a PoA to make sure your wishes are followed if you become incapacitated – it doesn’t automatically fall to your next of kin.

Small steps can make a big impact on medicines waste and save money
Medicines are 25% of the NHS carbon footprint and currently cannot be recycled for reuse. We destroy over a tonne of returned medicines through pharmacies every working day. We also know people inappropriately throw them away in general waste and down sinks and toilets, which is causing harm to wildlife and the environment.

Helping young people towards positive destinations
Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) now has a young person’s employability service within key HSCP services. Glasgow City Council (GCC) is the lead partner for this, and Council staff work closely with our HSCP’s Health Improvement staff.
As part of the Scottish Government’s No One Left Behind Employability Strategy, our employability coaches can support young people who are aged 16 to 25 years, live in the GCC boundary or are currently attending a GCC school and have the right to live and work in the UK.
