Glasgow Red Cross Work With Our HSCP to Deliver Emergency Food Parcels

The Red Cross has been working with Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) on the Winter Food Project, launched to help people experiencing food poverty during the coldest months of the year.

Due to the economic impact of increased fuel and food prices and the rising costs of living impact, many of our HSCPs most vulnerable service users’ financial circumstances were worsening markedly, month on month. 

First Domestic Abuse Strategy Launched in Glasgow

Our Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) Domestic Abuse Strategy 2023 – 2028 was recently approved at the Integration Joint Board’s (IJB) meeting on 22 March 2023. 

The Strategy is the first of its kind in Glasgow City, and it describes what we'll do over the next five years to ensure people affected by domestic abuse receive the best possible care, and how we'll continue to seek the involvement of people with lived experience in the design and evaluation of domestic abuse services. 

New Resource to Raise Awareness of Online Harms

To mark Stress Awareness Month this April, a new resource has been added to the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde (NHGGGC) Mental Health Improvement Team Healthy Minds Collection: Online Harms and Mental Health.

It is the latest of 18 Healthy Minds resources looking to raise awareness of a variety of topics that impact people’s mental health and wellbeing, including grief, body image, sleep, and more.  

Parkhead Hub Spring Update - Arts Strategy and Community Benefits

Bespoke Atelier, a design company based in Bridgeton, recently won a two -stage competition to create new artworks for the entrance and children’s area of Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) new Parkhead Health and Social Care Hub. 

For the entrance area, they'll create a large scale illuminated wall panel that will welcome visitors on arrival to the Hub. The design will celebrate the rich textile and weaving heritage of the local area whilst reflecting the scale and ambition of the new Parkhead Hub itself. 

Living Well in Glasgow City

One of the benefits of living in a vibrant city like Glasgow is having a wide variety of sporting and cultural activities on your doorstep. But for many Glasgow citizens, there are multiple barriers to taking part, from the daunting prospect of joining a new and unknown activity to financial and practical barriers to knowing what’s on where, and being able to get there.

DFN Project SEARCH is 10 years old this year in Glasgow with over 75% of young people completing the programme and gaining full-time employment.

Knightswood Connects at Cool Jazz Afternoon

Knightswood Connects Community Project held a small summer gathering for residents over the age of 50. The afternoon event took place in an outside space at Knightswood Community Centre on 29 July.
 
The weather was surprisingly dry and the marquees ensured that no one got sunburned. The forty seniors that attended enjoyed an afternoon of cold drinks, food and cool jazz from the very talented Mic Clark and Olivia Ennemosser from the group Acoustic Butterfly. The music was the perfect tonic and created a wonderful relaxed atmosphere for people to enjoy.

New Clinics Introduced to Provide COVID Jabs for Newly Arrived Asylum Seekers

A vaccination clinic has been set up in Glasgow to provide COVID vaccinations for newly arrived asylum seekers.

The clinic, which recently welcomed the first vaccination patients to its base in Govan, is part of Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) Asylum Health Bridging Team, which provides a range of health services to some of Scotland’s most vulnerable communities.

Home Carer Completes Charity Sky Dive

Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) Home Carer Colin McKechnie recently completed a 10,000ft sky dive raising £900 for the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.
 
Colin said: “In addition to my job as a Home Carer I also work as a Healthcare Support Worker in the Children’s Hospital. I previously spent nine years in the army and was diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). 
 

Raising Awareness of Breast Cancer and Breast Screening 

Every October is annual Breast Cancer Awareness month, and our Health Improvement staff within Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) are raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, how to be breast aware and the importance of early detection.
