Celebrating Carers Week - 8 to 14 June 2020
We are celebrating Carers Week from the 8 to 14 June 2020. This week is dedicated to people across the country who provide support to friends, family and neighbours who couldn’t manage otherwise.
The theme of this year’s Carers Week is “Making Carers Visible”. This is an opportunity to engage with both staff and the general public to ensure that people know about the help and support that is available.
Fred Beckett, Carers Lead for Glasgow City HSCP recognises the invaluable contribution of unpaid carers in Glasgow all year round.
Local Area Co-ordinator Thinks Outside of the Box to Support Service Users
Kenny Lang, a Local Area Co-ordinator with the Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership, recently had to ‘think outside the box’ about how to support one of his families to help reduce social isolation during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown.
Normally his team are able to support and introduce service users to the local opportunities in their communities on a face-to-face basis. Given the current situation Kenny volunteered to go above and beyond to help find a solution to support one of his families whose two sons both have learning disabilities.
