Parkhead Hub: Community Benefits

A partnership group has met regularly to plan, implement and coordinate wide-ranging community initiatives over the Hub’s construction phase and beyond. It includes Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP), Hub West Scotland, BAM Construction and community representation.

There were three priority groups:

care experienced individualsrehabilitating offenders and people recovering from addictionspupils from Whitehill and St Andrew's Secondary Schools.

Construction of the Parkhead Hub was completed by the end of 2024, with the Hub opening from 27 January 2025.

Hundreds of Ukrainian Refugees in Glasgow Supported by NHS and Council Teams

Teams from both NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and Glasgow City Council are helping hundreds of newly arrived Ukrainians who have fled the war in their homeland. While some refugees have been hosted in private homes, around 300 are being housed in hotel accommodation, and are being provided support by Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) teams to help them settle into the city.

The Domestic Abuse Strategy is the first strategy for Glasgow City HSCP that focuses on improving our services for people who are or have been affected by domestic abuse, and on improving our response to people who cause harm through domestic abuse. 

HSCP staff encouraged to become mentors and change a young person’s life

Since 2017, Glasgow City Council has been partnering with MCR Pathways to bring a variety of new mentors to its local schools.  MCR Pathways has been making a difference to the young people of Glasgow for 15 years and currently supports 1,454 young people (S3-S6) within Glasgow City. They’re in the process of recruiting a further 295 mentors for the new academic year, and Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) staff can help!

In May 2020, the Scottish Government directed Health and Social Care Partnerships to put in place assurance processes to support care homes, therefore the Glasgow City HSCP’s Care Home Nursing Team (CHNT) was developed to provide direct support to Care Homes across Glasgow City in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
