Scottish Breastfeeding week ran from 9 to 15 June, and Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) staff were out and about promoting the benefits of breastfeeding and celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the Breastfeeding (Scotland) Act 2005.  

TASK Family Support and Learning Centre in the Gorbals area has become the first early years establishment to fully sign up to the Breastfeeding Friendly Early Years Scheme in Glasgow City. The nursery is part of a pilot for the scheme, operating in Glasgow South and North East localities.

Congratulations to Morrisons Anniesland for being awarded Breastfeeding Friendly Scotland accreditation in Glasgow.

Breastfeeding is important to the health of both mother and baby. While many new mums start breastfeeding, some stop within a few weeks or months. This is often because they feel there’s a lack of support, particularly when they want to feed their baby outside their home. 

Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) has retained the UNICEF Baby Friendly - Achieving Sustainability (Gold) Award.

Congratulations to Elderpark Housing Association in Govan. They’ve recently signed up to the Breastfeeding Friendly Scotland Scheme. 

Over 1,200 new mothers have benefited from support from Glasgow Baby Cafės in the last five years, according to new figures from the National Childbirth Trust (NCT).

As part of World Breastfeeding Week which ran from 1 to 7th August 2018, many local Mums and not forgetting Dads came together to celebrate their experiences of breastfeeding at The Grove Baby Café in Possilpark.

Increasing the number of mums who breastfeed their babies is a Scottish Government priority to improve child health and reduce inequalities.
