Listening to patients – What Matters to You Day

Published: | Public Engagement

Staff at Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) Centre for Health and Care at Plean St, Scotstoun celebrated ‘What Matters to You’ day on 6 June with a stall outside to chat to patients.

What Matters to You is an initiative focused on understanding and prioritising the needs and preferences of our patients. The day encourages staff to engage in meaningful conversations with their patients to learn about their values, concerns and what truly matters to them in their care.

Claire Mitchell, Assistant Business Support Manager, Single Point of Access District Nursing Services based at Plean St said: “By actively listening and responding to their feedback, we can enhance patient satisfaction and tailor our services to better meet their individual needs. While we promote this day once a year, it’s important that we apply the principles every day in the care we provide to patients, as we know that when people are involved in decisions about their care, it can significantly improve outcomes."

Jan Wardrop, Business Support Manager said: “It was a great day, and we had some lovely chats with patients and answered any questions they may have had about the centre. It was very worthwhile, and I feel that a lot more of our sites would benefit from holding a ‘What Matters To You Day’ next year. It gave patients and callers to the building an opportunity to voice any issues or questions they had.

“Both Claire and I want to thank our caretaker Alan Ewart for all of his hard work on that day and the Estates Team who also helped out.”
