In the community, an unpaid work order is often a significant part of the Community Payback Order (CPO) disposal. A CPO Unpaid Work Order is also an opportunity for services to engage with people, provide supports that contribute to a lower risk of re-offending and provide the offender with an opportunity to develop new skills and opportunities around employability.

‘Circles of Support’ helps building family support for children and young people in Glasgow

When we need support, the first people we often look to are our friends and family. But what happens for people who may not have that circle around them when they need care?

A successful approach to building circles of family support for children and young people is now being adapted to support adults and older people in a new pilot project.

The ‘Family Group Decision Making’ approach, which strengthens family and community networks to support children remain at home and avoid going into care, will be adapted for the pilot ‘Circles of Support’ project.

Robotic cat brings joy to one of our service users

A robotic cat has brought back memories, joy and improved interactions for one of our service users. 

Deborah Thomson, one of our Glasgow Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) Social Workers, has been trying to find innovative ways to improve one of her service user’s life after she was diagnosed with Charles Bonnet Syndrome and Dementia.

Our July/August edition features a message from our Chief Officer, Susanne Millar; you can read about our HSCP’s new £72 million Parkhead Health and Care Hub, whose construction is well under way; our ‘Circles of Support’ project is featured, and we celebrate our HSCP Glasgow City Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service’s Crisis Outreach Service which was the winner of the Nursing Team of the Year Award, and Linda Doonan, Nurse Team Leader who was a finalist for Mental Health Nurse of the Year.
