Glasgow marks World Suicide Prevention Day

From 4 to 10 September, Scotland stood together during Suicide Prevention Week to raise awareness and shine a light on suicide and what we can do to keep each other safe.

This year, we’re continuing with the theme of ‘Creating Hope Through Action’ and encouraging people to talk about suicide and find out more about suicide prevention activities.

Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) hosts NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Mental Health Board-Wide Services, and we’re celebrating our mental health nursing staff who were successful at the Mental Health Nursing Forum Scotland Awards held on 6 October.

The Awards recognise the significant contribution that nurses make to the modernisation of Mental Health services across Scotland, increasingly in the context of the integration of health and social care.

Gartnavel Royal Hospital ‘Art in the Gart’ and Project Ability are proud to present the exhibition ‘The Reconnect Collection’ as part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival (SMHAF) 2023.  The free exhibition is on show now at the Art in the Gart Gallery, Ground floor, The Hub, Gartnavel Royal Hospital until 1 March 2024.

Shannon’s Box brings comfort to children and young people in care

Last month, our Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) launched Shannon’s Box. The box will be distributed to every child and young person in Glasgow who is currently in care or is coming into care.

Shannon’s Box was originally created by a care experienced young person from East Ayrshire to try and make entering care a little bit easier. The idea of Shannon’s Box was then introduced to two care experienced twins from Glasgow – Emma and Alan.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde launches engagement on GP Out of Hours

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking views on its delivery of GP Out of Hours, to inform the development of the service.

With extensive patient involvement, NHSGGC has moved to a more stable appointment-based model of delivering GP Out of Hours, since 2020. This change has resulted in a reduction of waiting times, fewer unplanned closures of sites and a high degree of satisfaction from those accessing the service.
