In recognition of Suicide Prevention Week, which runs from 8 to 14 September 2025, our Glasgow City Suicide Prevention Partnership is launching a citywide campaign aimed at raising awareness, reducing stigma and encouraging open conversations around suicide prevention.

This year’s theme, ‘Changing the Narrative on Suicide,’ focuses on transforming public perceptions of suicide by promoting understanding, compassion and support. The campaign seeks to shift the conversation from silence and stigma to one of openness and hope.

In Glasgow City we have 140 GP surgeries, hosting around 617 GPs, in addition to other clinical staff, caring for 791,000 registered patients. Each GP surgery has a Practice Manager who is vital to the successful running of the surgery. They manage the business aspect of the surgery, making sure that patients are at the centre of the surgery's operations.

Congratulations to Morrisons Anniesland for being awarded Breastfeeding Friendly Scotland accreditation in Glasgow.

Breastfeeding is important to the health of both mother and baby. While many new mums start breastfeeding, some stop within a few weeks or months. This is often because they feel there’s a lack of support, particularly when they want to feed their baby outside their home.
