Scottish Breastfeeding week ran from 9 to 15 June, and Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) staff were out and about promoting the benefits of breastfeeding and celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the Breastfeeding (Scotland) Act 2005.  

National Volunteers’ Week took place from 2 to 8 June this year and is a celebration across the UK of all the contributions volunteers make to their community.

Gartnavel Royal Hospital’s creative programme, Art in the Gart, celebrated the efforts and care shown by its volunteers at the Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) Staf

TASK Family Support and Learning Centre in the Gorbals area has become the first early years establishment to fully sign up to the Breastfeeding Friendly Early Years Scheme in Glasgow City. The nursery is part of a pilot for the scheme, operating in Glasgow South and North East localities.

Breastfeeding is important to the health of both mother and baby. While many new mums start breastfeeding, some stop within a few weeks or months. This is often because they feel there’s a lack of support, particularly when they want to feed their baby outside their home.
