On Thursday 24 November, we marked Carers Rights Day and raised awareness of the unsung heroes of our communities, unpaid carers.

Staff from carers organisations in Glasgow and Catalonia recently shared their experiences and highlighted the importance of support for unpaid carers.

Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) Community Support Service for older people with dementia has operated in the North East of Glasgow for 25 years.

A range of activities have been taking place to support Glasgow City HSCP’s Dementia Strategy Group and increase awareness of dementia and how people and their carers can be supported.

Families are being encouraged to plan for the future by obtaining Power of Attorneys (POA) to protect the wishes of relatives and friends in the event of illness or accidents.
