Become a Memory Maker – Scottish Adoption Week
Could you help create memories that last a lifetime for children? From bedtime stories to shared family celebrations to championing achievements at school and the everyday moments together, adoptive families help children build a lifetime of positive memories. This Scottish Adoption Week, find out how you could become a Memory Maker and make a lasting difference to a child's future through adoption.
This November, Families for Children is supporting Scottish Adoption Week, a national campaign highlighting the life-changing impact adoption can have on children and families across Scotland.
Many children in Glasgow are waiting for a permanent, loving family. Adoption provides children who are unable to live with their birth families the opportunity to grow up in a safe, stable and nurturing home, where they can develop lifelong relationships and achieve positive outcomes.
To find out more, Families for Children will be hosting an in-person Adoption drop-in open evening on Thursday 12 November from 6pm to 7pm at Glasgow City Chambers. There are also two free online information webinars on Tuesday 17 November, from 5pm to 6pm and Friday 20 November, from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.
The drop information evening and webinars are open to anyone interested in learning more about adoption. Participants will hear from experienced adoption professionals and will have the opportunity to ask questions about who can adopt, the adoption process and the wide-ranging adoption support that is available in Glasgow.
Adopters come from a wide range of backgrounds. Whether you are single, married, in a civil partnership or living with a partner you can adopt. You do not need to own your own home and if you have your own children, you can still expand your family through adoption. What matters most is your ability to provide a safe, loving and permanent family for a child.
If you adopt through Families for Children we offer a comprehensive programme of preparation and training, along with high quality adoption support to adoptive families before, during and after adoption. Our experienced team works alongside families throughout their whole adoption journey.
If you know someone who has ever considered adoption, please encourage them to come along and find out more.
