Demographics

The latest Demographics and Needs Profile 2026 has been developed to support needs assessment and service planning and delivery. The profile contains the latest information available at the time of writing and includes general population estimates by age, gender and ethnicity, for various geographies including the HSCP localities and the city overall. Population projections by age-band for electoral wards, HSCP localities, the city and Scotland are also provided. A health profile of the city is then included, with information on life expectancy and mortality, patterns of illness and disease as well as those factors that impact upon health and wellbeing such as lifestyle, social capital, deprivation, education and employment.

The Demographics and Needs Profile 2026 is web based, which allows users to navigate quickly and easily around the different categories of information which interest them. A Summary Document has also been produced which provides a snapshot of some of the key information from the full Demographics and Needs Profile 2026.

The Demographics and Needs Profile 2026 is also accompanied by an Excel Tables file, which contains all tables, sources and links for ease of downloading data or tables directly.
