Published: | Mental Health

Come and join us on the grounds of Leverndale Hospital for the seventh year of Meander for Mental Health! This year’s event will take place on Saturday, 12 September and will offer the opportunity to explore our beautiful grounds, as well as green spaces in Crookston and the surrounding areas. With free events and activities happening all day, from guided walks to yoga, tai chi, dance, alpacas and face painting, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Meander for Mental Health is open to all, whether you live in the area, are an in-patient of the hospital or are a member of staff, visitor or carer, or anything in-between. You can come along by yourself or bring your friends and family, there is fun to be had for all ages and abilities.

The event starts from 11:00am at the administration building (site entrance B), Leverndale Hospital and finishes at 3:00pm.

Please register for free at our Meander for Mental Health Eventbrite page. Everyone who registers and completes a walk will receive a goodie bag, and our café is open for drinks and snacks throughout the event. Walk maps are on the Meander for Mental Health Facebook page.

Angela Watson, Physiotherapy Lead, Leverndale Hospital said: “September 5 to 12 is National Suicide Prevention Week 2026, and we are encouraging people to take care of their mental health by taking part in outdoor activity in local green spaces. There is so much to see along the walk routes from Leverndale’s beautifully upgraded pathways, greenspaces and commissioned mural artworks.  We also have several activities booked for the day including a vintage bus, specialist bikes for all abilities, led walks, live music and information stalls. This year we will also have alpacas, therapet, yoga and beat the goalie along with all of our usual fun."

Information on suicide prevention is available.
