Glasgow Marks Carers Rights Day 2022
On Thursday 24 November, we marked Carers Rights Day and raised awareness of the unsung heroes of our communities, unpaid carers.
This year, the campaign focused on the many ways in which caring costs affect unpaid carers – from carers’ wellbeing and ability to access health services, to costs to their finances and employment options, to the current cost of living crisis that’s being felt even more acutely by carers throughout the UK.
Message from Susanne Millar - Partnership Matters - November/December 2022
Since the last issue of Partnership Matters, we’ve been celebrating here in our Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) with two events that I look forward to taking part in each year.

A beautiful nativity scene, on display in the foyer of Meadowburn Care Home in Pollok, is bringing Christmas cheer to our HSCP’s care home residents.
A wooden stable and manger built by Meadowburn’s Operations Manager Paul Costello houses nativity figures including Joseph, Mary, baby Jesus in a manger, a sheep, donkey and cow overlooked by an angel, shepherd and three wise men.

Helping Adults with Learning Disabilities with Relationships and Sexual Health
Staff from 17 organisations across Greater Glasgow and Clyde came together in November 2022 at an engagement event held by Sandyford Sexual Health Services. Sandyford is hosted by Glasgow City HSCP for NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.
The aim was to bring a broad range of stakeholders together to plan and prioritise a programme of work to support adults with learning disabilities around their relationships and sexual health. This was identified from a Staff Training Needs Assessment in 2021.
Learning about the Positives and Challenges of Implementing Housing First in Glasgow
A recent learning day is helping Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) and our partners discuss the positives and challenges of Housing First in Glasgow.
Housing First is a rapid rehousing approach to tackling homelessness amongst people with complex needs, such as mental health or addiction issues. Secure tenancies and intensive support are provided to assist some of the city's most vulnerable people to rebuild their lives, sustain their tenancies and improve their physical and mental health.
