Encouraging Healthy Eating and Physical Activity in Primary Schools

An updated Nutrition and Physical Activity Curriculum Pack is a one stop shop to help encourage healthy eating and physical activity in primary schools.

Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) Health Improvement Team worked with health and education colleagues across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) over the last year to update the ‘Your Body Matters (YBM): A Primary Health and Wellbeing Curriculum Pack’, for use in primary schools. The resource pack supports the implementation of a whole school approach to nutrition and physical activity.

Glasgow Celebrated Mental Health Nurses on 21 February

National Mental Health Nurses Day on 21 February was an opportunity to support and celebrate mental health nursing and thank staff working in our mental health services for their impactful contribution to society.

Restart Offers Support to People Living with Severe and Enduring Mental Health Conditions

Restart is a NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) mental health project that works with Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) Community Mental Health Teams. 

The project offers recovery based support to people living with severe and enduring mental health conditions. Staff focus on the quality of recovery, with personal development plans rather than care plans, and people on the programme are referred to as trainees rather than patients.

Bespoke Atelier, a design company based in Bridgeton, recently won a two -stage competition to create new artworks for the entrance and children’s area of Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) new Parkhead Health and Social Care Hub. 

For the entrance area, they'll create a large scale illuminated wall panel that will welcome visitors on arrival to the Hub. The design will celebrate the rich textile and weaving heritage of the local area whilst reflecting the scale and ambition of the new Parkhead Hub itself.

Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) operates five residential care homes for older people across the city, all of which were significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

As restrictions began to be relaxed, and the care homes moved to a position of recovery, it was important to reflect our staff’s experiences and express this through art. This artwork could serve as both a memorial and be a testament to our staff’s resilience to keep residents and colleagues supported during the pandemic and the challenges that it brought.

On 12 May we celebrated International Nurses Day. Nurses across the world were recognised for their commitment, compassion and daily contributions to society.

International Nurses Day was first established in 1974 by the International Council of Nurses and serves to highlight the important role nurses fulfil in health and social care.

This year the theme was ‘Our Nurses. Our Future’. The theme aims to set out the vision and importance of nursing in the future that will address global health challenges and improve global health for all. 

Being There For Someone At Risk Of Suicide - A Guide To Taking Care of Yourself and Others

A potential life-saving resource has been developed for people looking after someone with suicidal thoughts.

Last year, our Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) Suicide Prevention Partnership commissioned Glasgow Association for Mental Health (GAMH) to develop material for people who are supporting someone considering suicide.

GAMH worked with individuals who have lived experience of supporting a loved one at risk of suicide to develop the ‘Being There For Someone At Risk Of Suicide – a guide to taking care of yourself and others’.
