Parkhead Hub: Community Benefits

A partnership group has met regularly to plan, implement and coordinate wide-ranging community initiatives over the Hub’s construction phase and beyond. It includes Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP), Hub West Scotland, BAM Construction and community representation.

There were three priority groups:

care experienced individualsrehabilitating offenders and people recovering from addictionspupils from Whitehill and St Andrew's Secondary Schools.

Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) Parkhead Hub Health and Care Centre construction will be completed in August. The new Hub will integrate health, social care and community facilities, including a cafe and Parkhead Library.

Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) new Parkhead Hub building was completed in November, and the process of getting the building ready for staff and the public is well underway.

The Hub is due to open to the public from Monday, 13 January 2025, with all services expected to be operating from the Hub by February 2025.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is working with Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership to develop a new health and social care Hub at Parkhead in North East Glasgow, on the site of the former Parkhead Hospital, and current Sandyford, Anvil and Health Centres at Salamanca Street.

Progress with the construction 

Construction of Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) new Parkhead Health and Social Care Hub at Salamanca Street, Parkhead is well underway. 

The building is due to open in August 2024 and will bring together community health and social care services currently located at nine different sites. It will also include general practitioner services, community pharmacy and dental, community spaces including bookable rooms, a new library and a café.

A public consultation on the Hub formally closed on 10 September 2020. Information is on the archive site parkheadhub.scot.

Bespoke Atelier, a design company based in Bridgeton, recently won a two -stage competition to create new artworks for the entrance and children’s area of Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) new Parkhead Health and Social Care Hub. 

For the entrance area, they'll create a large scale illuminated wall panel that will welcome visitors on arrival to the Hub. The design will celebrate the rich textile and weaving heritage of the local area whilst reflecting the scale and ambition of the new Parkhead Hub itself.
