Helping Young People into Employment - Project Search Graduation

Project Search is a work experience programme that supports young people with learning disabilities and/or autism to get and keep a fulltime job. It started in Cincinnati Children’s Hospital (United States) in 1996 and is now delivered in over 500 sites worldwide, including two in Glasgow.

Cabinet Secretary for NHS Recovery, Health and Social Care, Michael Matheson MSP, has taken part in the ‘Topping Out’ Ceremony for our Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) new £72 million Parkhead Health and Care Hub.

Mr Matheson joined Professor John Brown CBE, Chair of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC), at the new Parkhead Hub site on Friday 23 June.

Working to support refugee communities and people seeking asylum in Glasgow City

To celebrate this year’s Scottish Refugee Festival, Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership’s (HSCP) South Glasgow Health Improvement Team organised an online event on 21 June.  

The event was an opportunity to raise awareness of some of the local HSCP services working to support refugee communities and people seeking asylum in Glasgow City. 

Over 50 people from a variety of HSCP services and third sector organisations, gathered online to increase their knowledge of services and make connections.

Equipment donated from Leverndale hospital helps mental health patients in Malawi

The Scotland Malawi Mental Health Education Project (SMMHEP) is a registered Scottish charity that aims to provide sustainable support for psychiatric teaching and training for health care professionals in Malawi. 

Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) equipment from Leverndale hospital’s ECT Service, managed by Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP), was recently donated to the project.

Welcome to the second Integration newsletter, and thank you very much for all your feedback and comments on issue 1. One of the main things that came up was about the use of terms like ‘acute’ and ‘primary care’ without defining them. So let’s put that right…primary care refers to the services provided by health professionals in either clinics or practices, or sometimes in a patient’s home.
