Glasgow Marks Carers Rights Day 2022
On Thursday 24 November, we marked Carers Rights Day and raised awareness of the unsung heroes of our communities, unpaid carers.
This year, the campaign focused on the many ways in which caring costs affect unpaid carers – from carers’ wellbeing and ability to access health services, to costs to their finances and employment options, to the current cost of living crisis that’s being felt even more acutely by carers throughout the UK.
Carers Week 2021 - Making Caring Visible and Valued
June saw the country celebrate Carers Week to highlight the importance of unpaid carers. From 7 to 13 June, Local Carers Centres in Glasgow City raised awareness and organised activities for people who provide everyday unpaid support to friends, family and neighbours who can’t manage otherwise.
New Glasgow City HSCP Campaign to Raise Awareness of Dementia
A range of activities have been taking place to support Glasgow City HSCP’s Dementia Strategy Group and increase awareness of dementia and how people and their carers can be supported.
A social media campaign #spotlightondementia, using the Partnership’s twitter account @GCHSCP in partnership with Alzheimer Scotland, is running from 13 to 24 December. The campaign reminds people to look out for changes in the health of older relatives when visiting at Christmas.

QNIS Long Service Awards for Partnership Nursing Staff
Three staff nurses from the North West Locality of the Partnership were recently presented with Long Service Awards from the Queen's Institute for Community Nursing Scotland (QNIS).
The staff were Susan McNee and Margaret Jamieson based at Maryhill health and Care Centre and and Angela Toland, based at Possilpark Health and Care Centre. They have all worked over 30 years with the Health Visiting team.
IJB Temporary Decision Making Arrangements
In response to the Coronavirus outbreak and the requirement to move quickly and decisively to manage the subsequent pressures on health and social care services in the City, Glasgow City IJB moved to initiate temporary decision making arrangements at the Integration Joint Board on Wednesday 25 March 2020.
