More than 80 people gathered together to work towards equality for all in Glasgow on 6 February 2020 at Glasgow City HSCP’s annual Equalities event at The William Quarrier Scottish Epilepsy Centre.  The event served as an open platform to discuss all aspects of equality in Glasgow and in our HSCP. The event focussed on starting conversations between individuals, organisations and businesses to create equal opportunities and break down barriers to collectively achieve the level of equality that our city deserves.

Woodside Health and Care Centre in Glasgow has been recognised for its innovative design at the Scottish Design Awards.

Beating tough competition in the Health Building category, the replacement facility, which opened in 2019, was designed by Page\Park Architects in partnership with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC), Glasgow City Council (GCC) and Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (GCHSCP), alongside development partner hub West Scotland.

Brand new Stobhill Hospital wards open doors to patients

Stobhill ACH has opened the doors to its brand new acute mental health wards. The £10.7m purpose built wards, represent the latest in clinical thinking and design and mark the future of inpatient care in mental health facilities.

The two wards – Elgin and Appin – have space for up to 40 inpatients, with Elgin dedicated to adult acute mental health inpatient care and Appin focusing on older adults with functional mental health issues.

A Socially Distanced Meander Through COVID-19

Local community, patients and staff came together in September 2019 for the first Meander for Mental Health Event, held at Glasgow’s Leverdale Hospital. Walks in the local area were used in a day packed with fun and activity to promote exercise for our mental health and break down the barriers and stigma surrounding mental illness.  The 2020 Meander event was set to take place on 19 September but had to be cancelled due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions. 

Flu Vaccination Campaign in Glasgow City

The 2020-21 NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) Flu Vaccination Campaign is now underway across Glasgow City. Due to COVID-19 restrictions and to ensure we can keep our patients safe, the way people get flu vaccination may be different this year. 

Vaccinations are being carried out during the months of October, November and December, and all patients who qualify for the flu vaccination will receive an invitation to attend or make an appointment by mid November 2020.

Slow release opiod substitute gives Glasgow patients new lease of life

A slow release opioid substitute is helping opioid dependent patients get their lives back on track and has been described as ‘life-changing’ by those on the treatment.

More than 100 patients across Glasgow are now being treated with Buvidal, which is administered via monthly ‘depot’ injections by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Alcohol and Drugs Recovery Services teams.
