Scotland’s first safer drug consumption facility – The Thistle – has seen 143 individuals make use of the facility 1067 times since opening on Monday 13 January.

In its first seven weeks of opening, The Thistle has been used 1067 times by 143 individuals (Monday 13 January up to close of play Sunday 2 March).

Nursing staff within the Using Space have supervised more than 700 injecting episodes, with people injecting cocaine, heroin or both.

Glasgow Telecare Services transition to digital platform

On Tuesday, 4 March, our Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) achieved a significant milestone in modernising our telecare services by successfully migrating to the Enovation UMO Digital Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) platform.

Telecare refers to a broad range of devices that are designed to help keep people safe in their own home by enabling them to request assistance in an emergency. The service is mainly used by older people or people with disabilities, but it can also support people who have significant health problems.

Mark wins at national Healthcare Science Awards

Mark Mason, Biomedical Scientist, at the Sandyford Sexual Health Services, was named Healthcare Scientist of the Year at a national awards ceremony to celebrate the work of healthcare scientists.

The Chief Scientific Officer’s Awards for Healthcare Science were held as part of Healthcare Science Week in March to celebrate the skills and expertise of healthcare scientists across Scotland.
